Talking your heart out, watching a movie, reminiscing about old memories, enjoying each other’s company without any interruption. Isn't that just perfect?

Even if you have kids, you can have a perfect coffee date night at home after they sleep. Also, this date sounds incredible, especially during this time when the pandemic is on the prowl again.

The only thing that remains is determining how to make your coffee date night at home interesting? Brewing a hot cup of Nespresso compatible pod and drinking it is not enough. Make it fun, and in this blog, we are sharing some fun ideas on how you can do that.

Tip 1: Have a coffee bar ready for you and your partner

A fun way to have a coffee date night at home is to have a coffee bar. Something which has a lot of things, so you can try making any number of drinks. It also gives you room to experiment, which is fun to do with your partner.

You can have different syrups or pods flavors, white and dark chocolate chips, whipping cream, lots of ice for cold coffees, ice creams, sugars, graham crackers, and more. Also, have some herbs which you can use to spice up your coffee, like cinnamon or cardamom and more.

Tip 2: Play never have I ever with a coffee shot

Never have I ever is a game you play with alcohol. However, on your date night, play it with coffee shots.

Brew a large mug of coffee and pour it into vodka glasses. The game is not new, and you know what to do. Just ask spicy questions related to coffee. Ensure that it becomes fun and exciting for you both.

 Tip 3: Blindfold coffee test

You can both take turns to make something new and exciting using coffee. It can be a drink or a cake, or anything that comes to your mind. Next, blindfold your partner and make them taste it. It would be fun, intimate, and exciting as they try to guess what is in the dish.

 Tip 4: Watch a movie

Another date night staple is to watch a movie. The only twist here is that instead of popcorn, you will enjoy a warm cup of coffee while watching the movie. Pick something romantic but not sappy. If you both like an action flick, go for it. Just ensure that you both like the movie genre you pick. You can even make a game out of the move, like sipping your cup of coffee every time a character says the word, sorry or love.

Tip 5: Enjoy coffee under the sky

You can set up a small corner on your balcony and enjoy a coffee under the stars talking about everything and nothing.

Love coffee? Then you must know about these incredible facts about coffee

Ready? Let's go!

Fact 1: 800 AD saw the first mentions of coffee

Many experts believe that in the 9th century, goat herders used caffeine when their goats ate fruit from the coffee plant. The goats intoxicated with caffeine danced the night away. A monk then decided to make a drink out of it and could not sleep the entire night. Thus, coffee, as we know and drink now, came into existence.

Fact 2: Brazil is the front runner when it comes to coffee production

When it comes to the production of coffee, every country has some region dedicated to it. But the best and most coffee production takes place in Brazil. It is responsible for producing about 1/3rd (almost 40%) of total coffee production. Vietnam is the second-largest producer of coffee. The third on this list is Colombia.

Fact 3: Caffitaly pods are an Italian coffee brewing system

Fact 4: Coffee has a colorful history of getting bans

Did you know that many people tried to ban coffee? In the 15th century, Mecca leaders were against coffee and banned it. Why? It is because according to them, coffee was promoting radical thinking amongst people.

In the 16th century, Italy’s clergymen also tried to ban it for promoting the worship of satan. However, Pope Clement VII tried this and fell in love with this decadent drink. Thus, he lifted the ban and also baptized it. A fun intriguing history for a beverage. No?

Fact 5: Coffee can lead to overdose

Did you know coffee overdose is possible? Yes, it can happen. Though, you would need to drink over thirty cups of coffee for it.

Maybe coffee overdose doesn’t happen every day. But coffee addiction can happen. So, try to limit your coffee consumption to 4 cups a day and not more.

Fact 6: There are four types of coffee beans

There are four types of coffee beans- Arabica, Robusta, Liberica, and Excelsa. However, only Arabica and Robusta are commercially consumed. Also, amongst these two, Arabica is more popular. Robusta has more caffeine and is bitter.

Fact 7: Decaf coffee does have caffeine

Decaf does not mean that it does not have any coffee. The amount is less, around 12 milligrams, but it does have caffeine.

Aren’t these facts amazing? How many did you know? Tell us below. Also, these make for fun chats during your next coffee party with friends.

It is because most coffee pods have around 5.5 grams of coffee, which makes a delicious espresso. However, if you love strong espresso, like the one you get in a cafe, then you need to use two pods. Using two will balance the ratio of coffee, and you will get a strong decadent cup.

2. Use salt to cut down the bitterness in coffee

Yes, the ingredients in salt can reduce the bitterness in coffee, thus, making it easier to drink.

3. Use a warm cup to keep coffee hot

When you pour the coffee in a cup that was in your pantry for a long time, it will cool down the coffee fast. The cup is cold, so it doesn’t keep the coffee hot for long. A little hack is to rinse your cup with warm water and then pour coffee in it. That will ensure that the coffee remains warm for some time. Thus, saving you multiple trips to the microwave for reheating.

4. Use butter or coconut oil for essential fat

Our body needs fat as it provides us with energy. There are good fats that you can use, like clarified butter or coconut oil in your coffee. Yes, we are talking about bulletproof coffee. Adding this adds healthy fat to your body which fuels your body and energizes you.

5. French Press can make espresso

Want to drink the traditional espresso? Then look no further than your French Press to brew one. All you need to do is grind the beans finely and only use enough water to submerge them fully. That will provide you with an espresso with only your French Press.

One of the best things about coffee is you can experiment with different tastes, flavors, and brewing methods. So, keep trying new things and these hacks to give your morning cup of java a make-over.

5 types of coffee mugs you should have

People who love coffee are also obsessed with coffee mugs. We are confident that you must have a massive collection of coffee at your home. Most of these would be glass or ceramic cups. However, do you know that every type of coffee deserves a specific coffee mug? Yes, it is true!

For instance, you can use a ceramic mug for a cappuccino. Although, for a mocha, a glass mug is preferable. (Though, using ceramic is not bad either). After the intended use of coffee, the cups classification can happen on the convenience and use. For instance, there are traveling cups that can keep the coffee warm or cold.

Amazing? Isn’t it? Coffee cups are no different than mugs; they have a world of their own. Here are a few types of coffee cups that you should buy.

1.      Traveling mugs

Everyone needs a traveling mug that can keep their coffee warm or cold. It can be tricky to buy the best travel mug due to the numerous options available in the market. However, look for their heat retention properties and check their reviews.

If they can keep your Nespresso pods coffee warm till you reach the office, they are great. Buy coffee pods online if you are looking for a quick & easy brewing method.

P.S. make sure that they are dishwasher safe as well.

2.      Ceramic cups aka the classic mugs

When you hear the word classic mug- you automatically think about a ceramic mug. Everyone has these because they are durable, comfortable, microwave-friendly, and affordable as well. These ceramic cups are often have designed, or you can get them plain or even customize them as per your need.

They do get stains on them quickly, and most ceramic mugs are quite heavy to carry.

3.      Glass coffee mugs

If you are someone who loves to show off their latte or mocha or flat white or even espresso, a glass mug is perfect for you. A glass mug shows the beautifully crafted layers of your coffee, and as we eat with our eyes first, it is a magical experience.

They do not stain easily and are not that heavy to use. However, glass is not durable as it is not a great conductor of heat. So, if the temperature gets too much for them, they can get cracked easily.

Another thing is that they don’t insulate your coffee well, so if you love hot coffee, you should go for double-walled glass cups.

4.      Melamine coffee mugs

Melamine is a man-made material. It is durable, affordable, and dishwasher safe. However, melamine should never be paired with a hot beverage as it may contain some toxins which are not safe for you to consume.

5.      Demitasse

Demitasse is an espresso cup. They are short and can hold only up to 3.4oz of coffee, which is optimal for an espresso drinker as it's too strong. Make sure that when you buy a demitasse cup, it is double-walled for better insulation.

Off to buy some more coffee mugs to add to the collection. What about you?

There are numerous benefits of using vegan milk. Though, we all have reservations about the taste and nutrients that non-dairy-milk can provide. In this blog, we will discuss all this and the best vegan milk for your coffee, cereals, and more.

Is vegan milk nutritious?

Cow milk unquestionably has more nutrients, like 9 grams of proteins & vitamin D and C. Non-dairy milk provides nutrition though they are less in quantity. The benefits however for the environment and towards animals is huge. Also, vegan milk is related to weight-loss, so do give it a try.

The best vegan milk for your coffee

Here is the best vegan milk according to their taste and nutrients to try in your coffee.

1. Oat milk

When it comes to using vegan milk for coffee, oats are the best option for you. It is creamy and has numerous benefits as oats are rich in fiber. Oat’s milk is a combination of oats, water, and oil (canola or rapeseed) for emulsification.

It is rich in protein as well and provides rich milk that you can add to your coffee. Its taste is similar to full-fat milk. Thus, it tastes quite well in coffee. Lastly, the foam it produces is quite nice for a latte.

2. Soy milk

Soy milk is the most popular vegan that barista and vegans use in their milk. One downside of this milk is that it can curdle. Though, use warm soy milk in your mug and then try adding coffee to it.

Rice milk is perfect for people who are allergic to soy and other nuts. Rice milk is neutral in its taste. Therefore, it allows the rich taste of coffee to come through. However, due to its thin texture and has less protein, it doesn’t allow for any foam in your coffee.

4. Pea milk

Pea milk uses yellow peas protein. Thus, it will not be of green color. It is also rich in protein and potassium. It doesn’t taste like pea or vegetables and is perfect for lattes or cappuccino. All questions regarding expiry of coffee pods answered

Coffee pods are like a breath of fresh air for coffee enthusiasts. It is one of the quickest ways to make espresso, iced coffee, latte, or even frappuccino. Individually packed, they have a powerful aroma and taste. It lasts until you open them or they expire, which is there in the packaging.

Yet, the question regarding its expiry and storage makes coffee lovers hesitate to try the pods. If you are one of those people, it is time to do away with any hesitation as we are answering all questions you may have about coffee pods expiry and storage.

Let’s begin

Can coffee pods expire?

Yes! Like any edible item, coffee pods too expire. The expiration date is available on the individual pod and the outer package as well for a few brands. If you do not have the wrapper to know the expiry date, you can ideally use it up to one year from the date of manufacturing. Also, the packing and sealing of pods ensure no exposure to moisture, oxygen, or sun. Thus, making the pod coffee safer to drinks for years.

Unless your coffee pod seal is broken or compromised, it is safe. If not, it is best not to drink it. Few coffee pods have milk in them, and as the manufacturer treats them with ultra-heat treatment, it is safe to drink for a long time.

Is drinking coffee pods harmful after their expiry date?

It depends on tons of factors including its packaging and sealing. If they are intact, drinking them will not pose any threat, and they will taste fresh too. Experts suggest that you can drink pods coffee up to one year after its expiration date. Though, do try to finish it before the expiry date.

Drinking an expired pod coffee will not make you sick. Though, it may taste different.

What is the best way to store coffee pods?

Coffee pods are affected by moisture, heat, puncture, and oxygen.

  • When it comes to moisture, make sure you store coffee pods away from moisture. It will impact its texture and will lead to the growth of mould on the pod’s surface.

  • When there is oxygen in your coffee pod, it can oxidize the grounds. It increases acidity and leads to sour-tasting coffee. Before you use pods, make sure to check rips in the packet.

  • The heat from the sun can harm your coffee pods. It alters its chemistry and makes it sweeter, which makes the grounds sticky and changes its smoothness.

  • Puncture is a tear or breakage in the pods which can expose it to heat, moisture, and oxygen.

To ensure that the pods are not affected by all this, you have to store them properly. Here are a few ways to do the same:

  • Hanging storage

  • Glass or mason jar

  • A drawer under the machine

  • Freezing the pods can also store them properly

  • Spice rack

It is essential to store the coffee pods in the right manner if you want the taste and aroma stay fresh.

3 Simple methods of brewing pods coffee at home!

Coffee pods present a unique and convenient way to drink coffee. It is a dream come true for every coffee-lover as it is quick and saves your time standing in Starbucks line every morning for your morning energy kick. Just because using coffee pods is convenient does not mean that making a perfect cup of coffee is. Though the process is simple, still simple things like boiling water to the correct temperature is necessary.

In this blog, we will learn about various methods of brewing coffee pods. These methods are helpful even if you do not have a single-serve coffee machine. So, do keep reading.

Brewing coffee using pods machine

If you have a Nespresso machine and Nespresso compatible pod (or any pod and machine which are compatible with each other), follow these steps:

  • Warm up the machine and let it drain to ensure every dirt comes out. If you don’t, the coffee will not taste its best.

  • Now, use cold and filtered water to fill up the machine. Measure the water before putting it.

  • Remove the coffee from its package

  • Pop the pod into the machine without forcing it to do so. You might have to press a button to access it, or you may not have to. Be sure to read the manual of the machine thoroughly.

  • Change the settings on the machine to your preference. Most pod coffee making appliances have three options-medium, light, and strong. Select the one according to your taste.

Brewing coffee using pod machine not compatible with your pods

If you do not have a pod that is compatible with your machine, follow these steps:

  • Have a holster that is compatible with the pod for this. Pop your coffee pod in the holster and put it in the machine. Again, never force the pod to fit into the machine.

  • Now place the mug under the coffee dispensing area and choose from the three options- light, medium, or strong.

Brewing coffee without a machine

If you do not have a pod machine but want to try pod coffee, you can with these steps.

  • First, open your pods coffee completely to get ground beans. You can do this with your hands or any sharp gadget like a pair of scissors.

  • Dispense the coffee into a mug of your choice. Use every last coffee if you want a delicious cup of coffee. If you reduce it, the coffee will not be as strong as individual pods that have enough coffee for one cup only.

  • Put the pod on top of the glass (you would need a narrow glass for brewing this)

  • Pour boiling water on it and let it brew for a few minutes.
