How to start your morning the right way in college?

College is stressful. Isn’t it? From working on multiple assignments to dealing with your peers and working hard to get a good job can put a lot of stress on you. However, you can reduce the stress without burning out or getting addicted to alcohol to cope.

There are better ways to ensure that your morning isn’t as stressful as the night when you went to bed. You can wake up anxious or stressed, but take few steps to ensure that it doesn’t ruin a good day. What steps you may wonder? Well, the ones we are discussing below.

1. Do not wake up to scroll through Instagram

We all are guilty of this, and it needs to stop. The first thing we do after waking up is going through Instagram or other social media. That is one of the worst ways to start your morning. Instead, meditate or simply get out of your bed to do some other productive work.

Do not look at your phone until a bit later after doing something productive or soulful for yourself.

2. Stretch

One of the first things you can do after getting out of bed is to stretch. Do not run towards the kitchen to start making breakfast or do chores. First, do some simple stretches right out of the bed. You have been sleeping for a few hours, making your body stiff. Thus, you need to stretch it out to ensure that the blood circulation is perfect.

You do not have to get into a rigorous workout right after waking up. A few minutes of bed stretches or simple ones are perfect for kickstarting your morning routine.

3. Drink water

Drink some warm water with a bit of lemon or lime or any way you like. Your body is thirsty after a long sleep and needs water to start the body functioning.

Warm water in any capacity helps to flush the toxins out and start the metabolism process.

4. Go for a walk or exercise

When you have an 8 am class in the morning, it can be challenging to get in a walk or exercise. But you can, it doesn't have to be an hour long. Go for a five-minute walk around your apartment or do a 5-minute dance routine or yoga. Anything that makes you physically active and releases endorphins in the body. It will help reduce the stress and anxiety that all college-goers feel.

5. Never skip breakfast

Skipping breakfast is one of the worst things you can do. College can be long, tedious, and hectic. Most of us end up eating junk, which doesn’t do any favors to your body. At least, your morning meal should be healthy and full. So, along with your mug of hot pods flavor coffee, eat a healthy and hearty breakfast. There are quick healthy breakfast ideas that you can try to make your morning a bit chilled.

Lastly, give yourself a pep-talk if the day is challenging. Do not give up and it will turn out to be okay.

Make your morning cup of coffee healthy with these tips

Is coffee a part of your morning routine? Do you sleep thinking about your morning brew? And you get up and put your Nespresso compatible pod into the machine first thing in the morning? Are you nodding yes to all this? Great!

All this means that you are a true coffee lover like us. When you think about coffee so much, you also have a coffee-making routine. You use the same thing to make your morning cup, and that is great too. However, there is nothing wrong with making it a bit healthier. Isn’t it? Let us look at a few ways you can make your coffee healthy without compromising on the taste.

1.  Never put cream or milk without measuring in the coffee

If you love to add milk or cream or half & half in your coffee, measure it. When we put it in the coffee without measuring it out first, it can be too much. We are okay with this, but that is not healthy especially when it comes to creamers. They are high in sugar, so measuring them out is the best thing. When you measure them, you will see that you were putting in extra, which you do not need.

2. Use plant-based milk

We love using dairy in our milk. It is high in calories. Nowadays, you can get low-fat dairy milk as well, without compromising the taste. However, if you are checking calories or trying to lose weight, you can opt for vegan milk for your coffee.

There are many options to choose from, like oats milk, or soy, or almond milk. They will not froth that well, so your latte will taste a bit different, but no less delicious.

3. Measure the sugar

You don’t always have to drink coffee without sugar. If you like sweet coffee, adding a bit of sugar is fine. The only thing you should do is measure them out. Without measuring if you add sugar, it will always be too much.

The same goes for any artificial sweetener you use. If you are not sure about using sugar, you can go for stevia. It is a plant-based sweetener. It is natural and has zero calories.

If you are using maple syrup or honey, please measure them. These sweeteners are a bit better than sugar, but still not best for people fighting chronic illnesses.

4. Use natural spices to add flavor to your coffee

One of the best ways to infuse flavor into your coffee is to use natural spices. Spices like cardamom or cinnamon or lavender flowers, or nutmeg can add a distinct flavor to your coffee. You do not need to add sugar with these.

Tip: press the start button on the machine after you add these spices.

5. Never drink it on an empty stomach

You are scoffing at this point because this is what you do every day. Right? Drinking coffee on an empty stomach leads to more acid, which gives heartburn. The best thing is to pair it with toast or bread.
