4 best tips to make your coffee healthier

Coffee is the one drink that makes waking up and being productive possible for thousands of people. Several people do not function well and are annoying until they take a sip of a big mug of coffee first thing in the morning. The huge consumption of coffee has ignited a debate as to whether coffee is healthy for humans or not? The answer is that it is healthy.

Caffeine, found in it, is super-rich in antioxidants. It fights free radicals in our body, which reduces a person’s chances of catching type 2 diabetes and cancer, and heart problems. It also helps a person beat sleepiness and increase their energy levels and become more alert. So, that makes coffee a healthy drink and your best partner for a productive day.

What makes it unhealthy is overdosing on coffee because anything you do not consume in moderation is bad for your health. Thus, to ensure that you continue to drink your coffee healthily, keep the below points in mind.

Tips to make coffee healthier

1. Never drink coffee after 2 pm

Coffee is a rich and natural source of caffeine in our diet. It is a stimulant that helps people stay awake and provides them with energy to get on with their day. It is healthy if you drink your coffee in the morning or mid-morning. But if you drink it after 2 in the afternoon, it can have side-effects. The caffeine from it takes up to four-six hours to leave our system. That means it can create problems with your sleep schedule and other activities. Poor sleeping habits, as we all know, can have a severe effect on our health.

So, try your best to limit coffee consumption till or before 2 pm. If you crave a bit of coffee after that, go for decaf.

2. Choose the right coffee

Not every coffee brand or texture can be right for you. That is why a bit of research is necessary before you buy a coffee for yourself. For instance, if you like drinking pods coffee, make sure you opt for disposable coffee pods. They are safe for you too, and since it is recyclable, it is perfect for the environment.

If you like buying beans, make sure you get local coffee beans in bulk to ensure that the coffee flavor lasts long. Also, it solves packaging issues for small coffee packets which increases wastage.

3. Stop overloading your coffee with sugar

Too much sugar consumption is unhealthy as it can lead to diabetes and obesity. Several people love their black coffee, but others overload it with sugar, which has fructose, and it is certainly not great. If you wish to add sugar, make sure it is not more than one tbsp.

Or you can switch it up for a natural sweetener like Stevia, which has zero calories. Other options include honey, maple syrup, molasses, and coconut sugar, which you still need to monitor as it has a bit of sugar in it.

4. Use full-fat cream or milk

Avoid non-dairy creamer, if you can, in your coffee as their processing rips off the benefits that they may provide. Still, some of them may be healthy, but it is best to stick to full-fat cream or milk.
