A guide to celebrate your kid's graduation

For parents, it is quite exciting to see their kid graduating from college or high school. Your best graduation wishes are with your kid on this joyous occasion, but you can make it more happening and happy. How? By throwing your kid an amazing graduation party.

Not sure how to do that? Well, read this guide and it will be clear.

1. Ask your kids what kind of party they want
The first thing you need to do is ask your kid whether he/she wants a big party with all relatives, close friends, and family members or just his/her friends.
Ask this as it will help you decide the venue and menu and so on with ease.

2. Send out the invites
If you are celebrating the graduation on a big scale, why not send out invites as well? You can opt for a video invite which you can e-mail to your friends or family. Or you can go for a simple and casual print invite and post it. But make sure you ask people to RSVP so that you can set the menu according to the number of people coming.

3. Date and venue
Keep the party on a weekend so that it becomes easy for people to fly in for your party. As for the venue, you can do it in your backyard. A simple brunch on a weekend after the graduation day is a great way to celebrate the joyous occasion.
If you have a guest list with people or friends of your child overlapping with his/her friend, consider throwing a joint party. This way you can celebrate it on a bigger scale and rent a big venue too.

4. A small party only for family members
If your graduate doesn’t want a big party with all relatives or friends, but a simple celebration with his/her best mates, siblings, and you, then plan a party cum trip.
It can take quite a few forms:

  • A small weekend trip, or hiking trip with grad’s close friends and family.
  • A family trip

5. Menu
If you are hosting a big party or a small one instead of going on a trip, you mustn’t plan the party around mealtimes. It can cost a lot, instead keep the party around brunch time or around evening snack time.
Have a cake which is enough for the entire guest, customize it according to the occasion, and have beverages according to the age of all people.

6. Decoration
Keep the decoration simple, a congratulation banner or happy graduation banner. Some balloons and floral arrangements and so on.

7. Entertainment
You don’t want the party to be boring; you need some form of entertainment. Some tips:

  • Have a photo booth and some props. Kids will love it, and even adults will have a gala time.
  • You can also have games like charades or volleyball or so on.
  • Play a video montage including all the memories from childhood till graduation day and so on.

Keep these tips in mind and have a great celebration for your young one!
